LSU RB Caden Durham drops 4-word reaction as teammate Ju’Juan Johnson enters transfer portal

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Ju’Juan Johnson plans to enter the transfer portal after two years at LSU. The versatile player arrived in Baton Rouge as a highly-rated prospect in the class of 2024, but has failed to live up to the lofty expectations around his talent level.

Johnson was deployed in a host of positions on both sides of the field during his tenure at LSU. Recruited originally as a defensive back, he flipped to offense as a true freshman and has primarily lined up at running back ever since. He also had time as a quarterback for the Tigers

The departure of Ju’Juan Johnson from LSU has ignited a reaction from fellow running back Caden Durham. In an Instagram story posted on Wednesday, Durham expressed his feelings with a four-word message while quoting the news of Johnson’s transfer portal entry.

“Forever nd after Ocho ❤️🔒,” Durham wrote.

ohnson recorded 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 45 carries across 25 games in his time at LSU. He also had contributions to the passing game, hauling in 22 receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown. As a quarterback, he was only able to make a throw.

While Ju’Juan Johnson has been productive for the Tigers as part of the running back rotation, his future grew cloudy when LSU changed coaches this offseason. He’s expected to generate a lot of interest from programs around the landscape with two years of eligibility remaining.

Ju’Juan Johnson becomes the sixth LSU player to enter the transfer portal

Ju’Juan Johnson became the seventh LSU player to announce his intention to enter the transfer portal. With the arrival of Lane Kiffin at Baton Rouge, there were expectations for a couple of players to end their tenure with the Tigers.

Johnson joins wide receiver Kylian Billiot, cornerback Ashton Stamp, defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux and wide receiver Jelani Watkins on the list of departures from LSU. Others are cornerback Wallace Foster IV and defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell.

It is expected that more players will announce their intention to leave ahead of the official opening of the transfer portal on Jan. 3. Considering his approach at Ole Miss, Kiffin is also expected to bring in a host of players to Baton Rouge via the transfer portal.
