Corey Heim broke Mike Skinner’s legendary record after securing his maiden NASCAR championship title
Former Tricon Garage driver Corey Heim won the 2025 Truck Series championship title on October 31, 2025. Following the title victory, Heim also outperformed NASCAR legend Mike Skinner’s record and set a new record among all three national series.
Skinner held the record for leading the most laps in a single season in the series. The former Truck Series driver set the record by leading 1533 laps in the 1996 season, and the record was untouched until the 2025 season. However, Heim was six laps behind breaking the record ahead of the Phoenix race. Later, he broke the record and emerged as the Truck Series champion.
Additionally, Corey Heim became the first driver in all three NASCAR series to lead at least one lap in every race in a single season. Reflecting on that, stock car analyst Jeff Gluck wrote:
“Get this: Corey Heim has now completed an incredible feat and led at least one lap in every race. He also just broke Mike Skinner’s single-season laps led record (set in 1996).”
“Per @NASCARInsights, Heim is the first driver to lead every race in a season for any series in a NASCAR national series,” he added.
Corey Heim started the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship race from sixth place. He secured the position with a best time of 26.77 seconds, achieving a top speed of 134.47 mph. Later, he made a seven-wide pass in overtime, leading to his victory.
